Dear America. Please stop. My sides are sore!!

Okay. The rest of the planet gets it.. Jokes over. We get that your whole system is corrupt from top to bottom, We get that there was not a good option to vote for. We get that your media is biased to both ends. We get that there are no reasonable middle ground representatives to choose.. You've made your point. But I ache from laughing, so can we get serious for a while and do something to at least look like you are trying to fix it? You still have a pretty good country buried under all that cr@p.

In the entire history of democracy, there has never been a "perfect" candidate. You compromise and make choices based on what you see is the closest fit to your convictions. This is true for every democracy, no just the US.

Is our system corrupt? Yes. The demarcation point, was right about 1980, with trickle down economics. Prior to that, and while not everyone earned the same, government services, wages and price of goods, insured that the average WHITE person, lived well, and better than most countries.

There are plenty of reasonable middle ground candidates. These folks though, are not getting a lot of attention.

More than half the country is also laughing at the current situation, and most of us believe that American did not stop being great, so while we strive to make it a better place, we think that "Making America Great Again", is a misspelling of Make America White Again.

Would a middle ground have been acceptable in 1862? For example, a compromise, that would have allowed slavery to continue for another 50 years, and then gradually go away, as plantation owners converted their "properties" into cheap and indebted labor?

I don't think so. This is how fundamental I thought the 2016 election was.

What the Trump camp does not realize, is that China's rise, is not due to our negligence, it's the natural progression of things. The Chinese got themselves educated, and with 1/6th of the planet's population, it's no surprise that their technology, and manufacturing will kick our ass, within a couple of decades. This is not Obama's fault, or anyone else's fault. Are we not supposed to accept that the rest of the world, has the same dreams and aspirations?

In the meanwhile, it's imperative that we fight the Trump agenda, to dumb down country, roll back environmental protections, roll back personal freedoms, and roll back law enforcement reforms, that insured that law enforcement is a service for the people, and not a license to abuse.

@ForkBoy Time will tell if your view is valid

Do you ever post anything that isn't bashing the US or Trump? You seem a bit obsessed, that isn't healthy.
Angeleyez · 51-55, F
Well speaking as an American, I may not have appreciated the way he said in op but Trump is a nightmare and dangerous he isn’t only dangerous to us he’s dangerous to the whole world a@Sicarium

@Sicarium Well, if we lived somewhere else we'd likely be trying to focus on our own misery too.

Our country has its faults, no doubt, but there are so so many who risk life and limb to get here. Sad statement on the rest of the world. LOL

@SheCallsMeCrushDaddy I couldnt agree more.. America is still a great country in spite of everything its leaders have done to it. A tribute to its resilience and its common citizens.

Not much we can do so long as Republicans are in charge of Congress.

@whowasthatmaskedman I can, should, and do. The party platforms, judicial picks, and actual polices are wildly different. You are naive at best.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@SW-User I agree on the policies.. Its getting things through the house where the system falls over. Votes dont follow policies.
But that works both ways. Trump would have done much more damage but for a few hold out Republicans. Your system of checks and balances can work to curb a renegade

@whowasthatmaskedman Many Republicans who know better have caved to Trump and the House committee investigating Russian interference has turned into a pro-Trump bullshit machine.

It has been hilarious - If you're into sick jokes.
You are right, shits out of control and it needs to be corrected b4 it destroys us.
!st thing would be to sweep all the garbage out of Washington, hanging every last one of them for corruption, this would give the next generation something to ponder as the bribes poured in.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@hellsinfidel Okay... The hanging, while I accept in principle, is probably a little extreme. But you are on the right track.
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@whowasthatmaskedman We seem to be getting rid of the garbage already. Anyone seen that senator from Minnesota lately?
SW-User
I totally understand.
katielass · F
Yes, it always helps one to ignore their own problems when they focus on someone else's. Is that still working for you or are things just so bad you can no longer ignore.
