What are you thought on donald trump recognizing jerusalem as the capital of isreal?

What are you thoughts on what donald trump did?
Well, it was a campaign promise that a few presidents have not kept. I think the status quo might have spared a few gallons of blood, but there has been plenty of blood shed anyway. What's a few more gallons, right? I am a Zionist by simple definition, so I am biased. I know that Jerusalem is the capital of Israel, but I would have chosen not to pour gasoline on the fire. Jerusalem is a holy city to all three of the poorly behaved children of Ibrahim, ideally it would be nice if the people of the book could love and respect each other, but in this world they never will.

@PixieCutLover No, but Israel is the Jewish homeland.
Why is there only outrage when the don says it. When every single prez since GWB JR promised they would..
Even the Kenyan said he would... but didn’t..
Poor T, all the bad kids are mean to him and he just loves Everyone, kisses and hugs, and a FREE roll of paper towels to dry up your tears with. Don't worry it will all be over soon, take your teddy with you and go outside and play in the middle of the street ok?

@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout Every president since GHWBush have campaigned on this and not one until now has kept his word. Of course all of them made many promises they did not keep. But who's keeping track of all of them.
Teirdalin · 31-35
I don't really get why the USA cares about what's going on there to begin with still.

Israel picked its capital and other countries should recognize that. How hard is this?
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
Sorry that opinions of haters are without merit. @Graciebaby
anti Semite.. and I bet you call everyone else hitler and fascist too...
Graciebaby · F
You must be joking, phosphorous bombs exploded mid air to fall and burn and choke innocent people, spreying human shit at the Palistinians, deafening sirens all night long, powerful lights turning Gaza to daylight.

The Semites Palistinian are the true natives of this region the false Khazian Jew has invaded this area they have no ties or history in Palistinian. The invaders are evil, vile people hated across Europe because of their vile practices.@jackjjackson

Regardless of which capitol should be recognized where, I'm betting Trump thinks he's "solved" the Mid-East crisis that's perpetuated forever and will take credit to that effect. "Here, I'll just change this here and...there you go, all the trouble's over."

Except that people are literally dying for his impetuous, unneeded, arrogant decision.
SW-User
@Graylight people are dying because nut jobs are using violence over a non issue
Graylight · 51-55, F
@SW-User It's not a "non-issue" to the residents of the city and surrounding areas. These aren't "nut jobs," either. They're people locked in a generational struggle and who've known little else, just like those in any area of the world where land is fought over.
SW-User
@Graylight I was referring to the murderers as nut jobs - the people you seem to think Trump is making kill people

Presumably the residents of the city know that Israel has Jerusalem as it's capital and America has recognised this since 1995. They may also know Trump has stated that moving the US embassy to Jerusalem doesn't mean Palestine can't also have part of Jerusalem as a capital
He, without plausible cause, hit a hornets nest with a stick just to see what happens. He IS the bull in a china shop. He's going to get us into a war just because people rally around the flag and the approval ratings of our reckless, lying sack of shit dope-in-chief will reflexively go up during wartime.

It's actually kind of shooting Israel in the foot at the moment. Israel has been searching for some level of rapprochement with some of their neighbors in recent years, in order to form partnerships against Iran. Mostly they're looking toward Saudi Arabia and Turkey, but neither of those nations is too excited about the idea of a partnership with Israel. The resulting tension of Trump's announcement has made it even more untenable for Israel to be able to find local allies.

The thing is he hasn't 'done' anything

Even the policy isn't new for America

"The Jerusalem Embassy Act of 1995[1] is a public law of the United States passed by the 104th Congress on October 23, 1995. It was passed for the purposes of initiating and funding the relocation of the Embassy of the United States in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, no later than May 31, 1999, and attempted to withhold 50 percent of the funds appropriated to the State Department specifically for "Acquisition and Maintenance of Buildings Abroad" as allocated in fiscal year 1999 until the United States Embassy in Jerusalem had officially opened.[2] The act also called for Jerusalem to remain an undivided city and for it to be recognized as the capital of the State of Israel. Israel's declared capital is Jerusalem, but this is not internationally recognized, pending final status talks in the Israeli–Palestinian conflict. The proposed law was adopted by the Senate (93–5),[3] and the House (374–37).[4]"

I have supported this for the past 20+ years. Glad someone finally kept their word.

FINALLY.. We have someone with some balls as president! The US has been "saying" through their diplomacy, that Jerusalem the capital of Israel for years...
The Palestinian Arabs want Jerusalem to be the capital of Palestine..
But after WWII, that was not the determination..
polyandrym66 · 70-79, M
@softspokenman The congress was elected by "the people", not Trump.. He wants to clean the swamp that "the people" have created..
Yes they were and it is also obvious that if many of the politicians want to stay in office, salary and benefits from tax money, and want "donations" for their next campaign they will do what the "Greed is Good" people tell them to. History shows that people will only endure an abusive leadership for so long before they do something about it. *And when the leadership became more abusive trying to prevent the people trying to change it the more violent the change was. Good people don't overthrow good leadership. @polyandrym66

@softspokenman I agree with you that "Good people don't overthrow good leadership"... I know a LOT of good people still..

Another example of doing the exact wrong thing. Typical Trump.
He doesn't do Anything, that "HE" doesn't benefit from and it doesn't matter what you or I think is right or wrong. @Crazywaterspring
ladycae · 100+, F
considering all the jewish people i have discussed it with do not want it and the israelis here on ep don't want it i think it is a mistake and trump will be covered in the blood of millions.
ladycae · 100+, F
yes and very 6 months that policy was waived because of the mass blood shed it would cause, so yes this was a policy change. and if you read the question you'll know what the jewish people i have spoken to do no, did not want. it's kind of self explanatory
SW-User
@ladycae I'd argue the policy didn't waive. It was the act of moving the embassy that was waived due to security risks
