It is no doubt a significant disappointment for the Palestinians that the USA has come out and stated the obvious, that Jerusalem is the eternal capital of the Jewish People and Trump who I rarely agree with has correctly stated that this is a recognition of reality.

It is GOOD that the Palestinians are disappointed, it is way past time that they be disappointed and it is HEALTHY that they be disappointed because to live with delusion is unhealthy.

Israel made two pretty bad mistakes in its history... First in 1948 and then in 1967 both times they permitted Arabs to remain in Israel. In 1948 all Jews were expelled from all Arab nations, they left everything behind and started over again in Israel. In pre war Europe Jews were expelled from their homes there by Nazis, in post war Czechoslovakia they expelled German speaking natives of the Sudetanland to Germany as retribution for what the Nazis did in Czechoslovakia... But when these atrocities were done the problem was over and these expelled people had to make lives for themselves elsewhere and they were not perpetual refugees or advocates for maybe creating a nation..

Look at how Jordan occupied Jerusalem from 1948 to 1967. No Jews were permitted there.. When the Jews recaptured Jerusalem in 1967 they permitted the Arabs to stay - again not a decision which served their best or better interests... They could have expelled every Arab and knocked down the Al Aqsa Mosque - they did not... and today they are paying a price for this.

Delusion is unhealthy - Reality is healthy and reality is that there will never be a two state solution, Israel will never relinquish one square meter of Jerusalem to anyone... The sooner the Palestinians come to grips with realty the better for everyone, including them. Look it has only been seventy years so far, do they not recognize that the past and present is a pretty good indication of what their future is?

Yes Reality - what a concept.

The question - is superfluous, Jerusalem is and has always been the eternal capital of the Jewish People of the world.

And no one needs to be a rocket scientist to understand this.

We should simply agree with Israel. It’s their country

I don’t think religion should be a consideration on this subject. @SakuraShimeji
