Does Donald Trump have far-right tendencies?

I keep getting accused of breaking Godwin's law but I can only call it as I see it. He recently re-tweeted stuff by Britain First, which is a far-right organisation. Trump is not Hitler, he just has common ground with some people who secretly like Hitler. That is OK though, right?

@RodionRomanovitch You get best answer because of the political analysis, honest. 😘

I consider myself a far-right nationalist, very conservative socially, hate Hitler, nazism and racism, and am tired beyond words of the left intoxicating with the false equivalence far-right=fascism/nazism.

Unfortunately there are still some fooled by this false statement, but more and more people are waking up and realising that words are just that, words, and nazis belong only to the past

@Cierzo Saying that all Muslims are jihadists is a racist dog whistle in my view. I've said it and stand by it.

Your position seems to be that race plays no major part in politics. I disagree.

@Burnley123 My position is that the word 'race' is wrongly used in situations like this, that have to do with religion and morals, not race.

This inaccurate use has a purpose. Being called a racist gives a much worse image than being called anti-muslim. The same when you are called a nazi instead of far-right.

That’s why they do it. @Cierzo

I'd say that it's pretty obvious that Trump as president has far-right tendencies. The point that annoys me is that people seem to believe that such beliefs are somehow "illegitimate", which I think makes them sound foolish and gives Trump and fellow believers more legitimacy in their thoughts - after all, if they're being persecuted for their ideas, they must have grounding.
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@RemovedUsername8862 Whether far right beliefs should be treated as illegitimate or not is another topic. My point is that people should 'own it'. If there is common ground between Trump and the European far-right (or even the US far-right a-la Charlottesville) then people should accept that and try to justify it. Instead, they angrily deny it and moan about 'triggered' people with their false accusations. Most of the accusations are true.

@Burnley123 I agree. If you can't publicly own up to your beliefs, your faith is weak. That said, I also think that it's wise to avoid harassment and death threats, so I'm torn.

@LvChris Its why I left it ambiguous and mentioned the institutions. We don't know how far Trump would go. He would take it further; that far is something unknowable. Hitler used explicitly racist rhetoric from the start, Jewish conspiracies and ideas of a German empire. people didn't take him seriously. Some Trump supporters are like that but Trump himself is not as extreme. A comparison with Mussolini fits better and even then there are some differences.

@SW-User If Trump tweeted that he wanted to gas Jewish people and got called out for it on SW, would you call them liberal whiners?

In some minds, there are no such things as racism, fascism or sexism; just false accusations of.
