I've just read 'Kill all Normies'.

The book is a critique of modern internet political culture and its really interesting. It looks at the origins of the alt right and its toxicity, whilst also being critical of Tumblr style identity politics.

Interesting stuff.

any conclusions or remedies?

@firefall Kind of. She is making the case for more grown up and nuanced debate on all sides. Also that the left have have less success with trangressive counter culture these days because the right have co opted a punk sensibility.

She concludes by saying the left have more success by making moral and universalist arguments (rather than being identitarian and niche).

@Burnley123 Seems plausible, but (as so often) I dont see how to get there from here

@firefall Yeah but my one criticism of the book is that it over emphasises the significance of online right's impact. They are more a symptom of various things than a group which change society.

Also, the left have had some success in recent reals with people articulating moral universalist arguments. Wonder what my examples would be... 🤔
