The fact that there are people who think that MLK was apart of a conspiracy to destroy America proves that this world is not worth saving

@Greenbare You need to stop getting your history from facebook and twitter. MLK was carefully, and deliberately non-partisan. He never publicly supported either party, and said both failed his people.

One of the very, very few he mentioned parties directly in his writings is this bit from his autobiography.
The Republican Party geared its appeal and program to racism, reaction, and extremism. All people of goodwill viewed with alarm and concern the frenzied wedding at the Cow Palace of the KKK with the radical right. The “best man” at this ceremony was a senator whose voting record, philosophy, and program were anathema to all the hard-won achievements of the past decade.

Senator Goldwater had neither the concern nor the comprehension necessary to grapple with this problem of poverty in the fashion that the historical moment dictated. On the urgent issue of civil rights, Senator Goldwater represented a philosophy that was morally indefensible and socially suicidal. While not himself a racist, Mr. Goldwater articulated a philosophy which gave aid and comfort to the racist. His candidacy and philosophy would serve as an umbrella under which extremists of all stripes would stand. In the light of these facts and because of my love for America, I had no alternative but to urge every Negro and white person of goodwill to vote against Mr. Goldwater and to withdraw support from any Republican candidate that did not publicly disassociate himself from Senator Goldwater and his philosophy.
He more or less campaigned for Johnson, and almost certainly voted for him and JFK.

In 2008, his son said “It is disingenuous to imply that my father was a Republican. He never endorsed any presidential candidate, and there is certainly no evidence that he ever even voted for a Republican.”

Some of this bad history came from when his neice said something - but she retracted it.
I regret having said to a group of peers that my Uncle M. L. (Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.) was a Republican. I said that without having all the facts.

My grandfather, Dr. Martin Luther King, Sr. was a registered Republican. Uncle M. L. was an independent, who in his own words tended to vote Democrat.
Now I wonder which one of us consumes more fake history...

@Greenbare
When MLK registered to vote he registered Republican all is life.
Proof?

And the democrats and republicans of MLK's time were in the process of switching ideologies regarding civil rights. MLK Sr was definitely a republican. MLK Jr was not. I don't know what he said about that particular democratic convention - but the only convention he's on record as thrashing was the republican one, in 1964.

Oh wait, here is proof that he did not register republican all of his life.
King’s home state of Georgia did not have registration by party, so allegiance to a political party depended on which primaries a voter chose to cast a ballot in. This means that there are no voter registration records, and no paper record of King’s political affiliations. King also chose to keep his voting choices to himself, so there is not even any person who can say with 100 percent certainty that he ever cast a ballot for one party or the other.
This makes NO sense. How can the stupid beliefs of a few justify the end to the many?

the fact that there are idiots amongst the population proves the world is not saving?

What really proves it is the vile, vicious trolls like you

sorry, no matter what a small group of idiots thinks.. the silent majority who is about 'action' are the part that's worth saving.

There were even people who thought the eclipse was a symbol of racism. I'm done. I'm fucking done 😂

Wow...because equality of rights is obviously the end of the nation. XD
One of the many reasons I hate the Confederate battle flag is that after Dr. King was assassinated there were people who were flying it in celebration. But yes, some of the segregationists and J.Edgar Hoover were trying to claim MLK was part of a Communist plot to foment racial hatred. Guess they didn't think Jim Crow and discrimination was enough of a reason to be angry.
@bijouxbroussard i've been educated. thanks. 🙏

There are a lot of corrupt politicians and leaders in this world. Why do you feel the need to call out Martin Luther King. It just shows how selective and ignorant a person you are being here.
@Zonuss The fact that some racist people thought that of MLK was not MLK's fault.
Zonuss · 41-45, M
@bijouxbroussard Of course not. Be he cheated on his wife and was a womanizer. Nobody is perfect. But he was overall a good man and stood for a good cause.
@Zonuss Right, he was a human being. His personal life was between him and and Coretta. J.Edgar Hoover spied on him to try and get dirt; ironic considering all that Hoover was into.
