Next on the list should be all those war monger monuments and memorials. Then we won't have to be reminded about all those other nasty wars.

A statue is not a history book or an artifact.

The clansman do not want to keep it so they can learn the lessons from history but because they want to repeat the history.

If the neo-fascists objected to the removal of a statue they could have protested peacefully. Going in mob handed waving swastikas and giving the hitler salute is not a great way of doing things.

nothing wrong with a monument... but I reckon they all should have a plaque with a brutally honest historically accurate description of the person...

@Tracos i agree that is the point that i always try to make. it may not be the greatest person in the world or the greatest time in our history but it needs to be shown for it's true colors so we as a society can learn from it.

@SW-User I hoping at some point everyone takes a moment to take stock of what they're doing, people are running on pure emotion over this right now.
I'm a native New Yorker who move to the south 20 years ago so I have no emotional attachment to what is going on with the Confederate statuary.
It's all just a waste of time and money.
