If communism is to work together why do ppl oppose it?

Firespirit · 26-30, M
communism has also lead to death of 100 million people and has failed every time so I think that might be a factor and also people like owning their property they worked to get
Any political / economic system is only as good as the people in charge of it. As it stands now, you can be a slave to a rich man or a slave to the state, if you piss off the rich man, you have to find another rich man to be a slave to. If you piss off the state, you get a bullet behind the ear.

@puck61 practically and ideology are not interconnected. Practicality is merely an ideology that has been practiced
JovialPlutonian · 36-40, M
@puck61 I must admit despite our differences I do have a lot of respect for you. It's the desire to understand one another that helps us to evolve together by recognising and accepting each other's needs as equally valid
@JovialPlutonian Yes. That, in my opinion, is the way things should be. We as the'successful' are to blame for the 20,000 children that die every single day of starvation, war, and disease. It is our cold hearts and distractions of pleasure, that makes us forget the twenty thousand. We make our token offerings to token charities, but in this hard world, all the right people are dying for the most part. This is how humanity works, and that is why the neanderthal is gone. Onward and upward.

@Psychoticenlightment I think it's not that easy and you assume too much.

A lot of the equality you hear about in communism is just propaganda and not how it actually was or is. The matter of "equality" is actually really complicated and presents many paradoxes. Gangs, other criminals and anyone (Govt) who thrives for power will still be in power. It's not that simple.

Also too much of just "one shared philosophy" can be a bad thing:
Our dual moral nature leads Haidt to conclude that we need both liberals and conservatives in competition to reach a livable middle ground. As philosopher John Stuart Mill noted a century and a half ago: “A party of order or stability, and a party of progress or reform, are both necessary elements of a healthy state of political life.”
Because the truth is most people don't really want to work together. A lot of people think they can get rich if the government would just leave them alone, and when they get rich they don't want to have to share it with anybody.
Working together? Communism is not about working together. It's about losing freedom, being tortured and killed. People oppose it because freedom is lost.
JovialPlutonian · 36-40, M
@MissMollyCharlotte0702 it may seem that way having greedy dictators but communism has never been carried out as intended. Only with an impartial leader could it work. And true communism would involve the leader get any additional perks over the ppl because they would be seen as equal to them and would only be rewarded by how beneficial they're to the whole.with capitalism the focus is much more on creating more for the individual so you can have private this and that only if you lick someone of high social status' arse. If you don't realise you're being raped by your capitalist government then you know you're probably licking some arse. Where's the integrity in that?
Miram · 31-35, F
Even Karl Marx would oppose it under the circumstances it was set out and under today's circumstances.

In his economic theory it is the final state ,after there is lot of resources and means for everyone, after capitalism provides those resources and socialism succeeds. And it is not a top down approach. The willingness to establish it comes from within the working class not the ruling class.
JovialPlutonian · 36-40, M
@Miram yes if they realised their own power but they don't so they live in fear and become obedient yes men/women
YesMan · 31-35, M
Read about principles of communism, you'll learn. Communism means that even though you can achieve something big, whatever is "redundant", is removed by the govrrnment and given to everybody. To make everyone equal. So which one of rich and/or able men would like to share their profit? Think about it.
Xuan12 · 31-35, M
In practice, disagreements and imperfections tend to heavily strain communist systems. It tends to crop up in countries that break down from exceptional inequality, but as wealth is rebuilt it loses support.

Don't you see it as a bad thing? The government owning everything and you own nothing and you have no rights to speak up when you have your rights taken away?@JovialPlutonian
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
@MissMollyCharlotte0702 They don't see it as a bad thing. Communism seems to be an authoritarian philosophy. Many of them support dictators and big govt if it means making them "equal" in some sort of way. Even if it isn't actual equality.

Because it takes away freedom from the mix
JovialPlutonian · 36-40, M
@SW-User how so? The idea of it would be to create for all what capitalism gives everyone to opportunity to create. There would be no rich because we would all be rich
SW-User
@JovialPlutonian the only people who are rich in a communist country are the ones who affiliating with the government..spies are everywhere who record your every move, every word. If they find anything inappropriate, you go to jail without any questions asked..i lived in a communist country until age 9

@Psychoticenlightment Often times the way they treated their citizens that lead to millions of deaths was way different from the way they tried to portray things. It was propaganda used to justify their treatment of dissidents and justify bad things. On the whole equality is a paradox. In order for a utopia to exist you have to kill dissent.
Its more than that

Sounds good in theory, in practice it's a disaster.

All movements and people like to give the impression that they are doing things for the benefit other people. People like to pretend that they are selfless and thoughtful, and all systems of thought claim to help humanity. An evil idealogy or group is hardly going to attain any power if it says from day one "we are out to oppress you". Communism in all its form is destructive, oppressive and counter to nature.
