The abhorrent torrents A drizzling deluge Washing the landscape Cleansing streets, stairs, and stoops Scrubbing away the muck and grime of the city Chasing all the badder elements into their dens The echoing thunder pealing through the sky Cascading it's sounds down to the surface like a plea Calming in it's harsh tones I listen intently "Let it rain." The flowers whispered. I agreed in sentiment. The rain slowed and abated. The muck and grime began to build again. The city writhed, like a dancing snake The sound of sirens playing a discordant refrain A meager measure.
