do you have a toy or stuffed animal you got as a child? [I Ask Questions]

TexChik · F
Yes . My adoptive parents were so worried about me because I was afraid to sleep. The nightmares from PTSD were horrifying and I would just cry and shake . So they gave me a bear ( actually my first gift ever) . But not just any bear . Daddy was a retired marine officer but was still hard core . So mom took some of his fatigues and made my bear a uniform . Daddy max sure it was some of his gunnery sargeant fatigues and the arm patch was on the bear’s back . Daddy was sitting up with me in a chair by my bed with his shot gun ... holding my hand so I could sleep . That was working ... so he introduced me to “ Gunny Bear “. Who, according to daddy , was the meanest mother f*cker this side of hell , and his mission was to protect me while I slept . Every night he would tuck me in and bark orders to my bear and salute it . I trusted daddy completely and fell right to sleep . Gunny is a little tattered , but is well preserved and protected in a glass case now . A reminder of how wonderful my adoptive parents were .

I used to have a little dinosaur. From the land before time. It was little foot. It was everything to me. I wish I knew what happened to it.
@ScarletWitch I miss watching that!!

Nothing, we moved around a lot and my father would give our toys away rather than let us choose something to keep. My mother gave me a crocodile she brought back from the Philippines, it looked real. I carried that thing around like SimonBirch carried around his stuffed armadillo. That’s the one thing I wished I still had from childhood.

When I was 11 years old, I came home from school one day to find that my mother had given away all my dolls, games and toys. She'd unilaterally decided my childhood was now over and I didn't need them anymore.

I do actually 😂😂 my grandmother gave me it when I was very young. I dont usually bother keeping things from my childhood but she died a number of years ago and that one bear is all I have to remember her by.
