I dont know how to discipline dogs

All ive ever learned is that youre supposed to hit the dog with a newspaper or smack them if they do something really wrong, but that doesn't seem right to me. theres gotta be other ways ;-;

Never hit dogs if they do anything wrong. Positive reinforcement should be the only way to go unless you have something like a wolfdog-hybrid or a high-energy dog like a Husky, Samoyed or Border collie, but even then you should NEVER get physical.
Physical punishment has been proven time and time again to enforce bad behavior in dogs, as well as aggression.
