Does anyone knows if it's possible to adopt a terminal ill dog?

I'm wondering if it's possible as I would love to be part of these dogs' last days to make them feel special before the inevitable. To be more specific, If it's possible in the U.K.

It's possible I have a friend that fosters sick dogs and senior dogs who are on their last days. She has a big heart and loves animals so it's a good fit for her but it's a lot of work with the meds and care.

Maybe get a job at a shelter. Pets are euthanized every day.

To be able to work in most shelters you need to be jobless or a student. I have a full time job so I'm pretty fucked. The thing is that I can take as many holiday as I want, so I'm able to do this @Peekaboo:

@QueenChaspick: If you're not home full-time you shouldn't be thinking of adopting dying pets. A strange new place and loneliness is the last thing they need.

I have always wanted to have a dog, but I can't commit to adopt a healthy dogs which will live at least 12 years. I still trying to find my place in this world so it wouldn't be fair for a dog to have to go through this. @anotherclone:

I don't know about where you are, but here, in Canada they do have canine palliative care.

@Serenitree: sorry, that should read hospice care. Call your humane society and inquire. My daughter was prepared to adopt a terminally ill dog for the last few months of her life, but in the end, the foster care family decided to keep her. The original family were unable to provide the care the dog needed.

go to a shelter.. they are putting down hundereds of thousands of dogs .. 😒

Wouldn't see why not. IDK about the UK, but most needed in the US.
