Why isn't "mongeese" the plural of "mongoose"?

Because a mongoose isn’t a type of goose. Lol. The word is borrowed from another language and borrowed words don’t follow irregular English plural patterns.

@Zaphod42 The manager of our local Internet cafe says "hice" for "houses". He's a bit eccentric. Lol :)

Because the words "goose" and "mongoose" are unrelated.
