Sister got a new guinea pig and two cages (starter and a bigger one)

Bigger cage made his feet bleed or something so She gave the cage to me, so im using it for my parakeets (same company made both cages) the gaps between the grates? i guess is what youd call them is almost twice as big as the other cage, but not quite, is that gonna safe for the birds or?
