Get on with it... you're probably making a bigger deal out of it than Fido is.
i once had to visit family in the north of the county and took our 2 dogs with me on the bus and train journey. The smaller dog went inside my coat as was her usual routine and she slept the entire journey.
The bigger dog happily hopped on and off both the bus and train with no problems. He took a little longer than usual to settle on the train with it being a first for him, but he did great with a little fuss and a few words of reassurance.
