@HannibalAteMeOut I'm not entirely sure. A lot of animals have unusual or seemingly impractical displays like this for mating though. We're still trying to figure out why narwhals have their distinctive tusk.

@firefall Ibexes are gorgeous. Funny story, a friend of mine is from Russia and just a few months ago she had an incident when an ibex climbed on top of her car and she had to throw a honeydew melon at it to scare it off lol. Being alpine animals they have a strong instinct to climb on things.

@sarabee1995 Yep, antlers are shed at the end of the season while horn is permanently attached to the skeleton and continues to grow throughout the animal's life.
