Have you ever experienced a power surge?
It’s 5:17 A.M. here in California. I was jolted awake 15 minutes ago by a shower of sparks outside my window and the power going out. I looked outside and saw that the tree outside my window had an orange glow inside it. A tree branch had fallen on a wire, blown a transformer, and started a fire in the tree. Luckily it had been raining hard so everything was really wet and the fire was kind of smoldering and was able to be put out quickly with a hose (my neighbor—it’s a duplex—came banging on my door saying he saw the fire, we went out to the backyard and put out the fire with the hose). Needless to say I’m freaked out -_-
