Is it possible for dogs to bark themselves hoarse?

Yes, it's really sad too.

Yes, we boarded a dog once for ten days. She could utter a sound she was so hoarse because she barked the entire time we were gone.

Yes, it is. My friends’ Chihuahua barks [b]all[/b] the time, and had a field day last July 4. He was indeed hoarse for a day or so afterwards. The vet actually prescribed medication and they kept him inside so he wouldn’t be as excitable.

But there can be other causes, so it’s good to have a vet check it out.
