Nearly lost Riff.

I'm trying to introduce her to the outside world.
I carry her in my arms and walk her around the courtyard.
She wriggles and squirms and breathes heavily, whimpers and cries. Not in excitement or joy. To go back inside.
This evening she damn near got away from me; she's a strong girl! She struggled out of my arms and I almost didn't catch her.
Tips on how to make the transition to being an outdoor cat as well as indoor??
Introduce her to the scents first coming from from outside. Stand or sit at an open window or door with her.

@EugenieLaBorgia Five months.
@Cavedweller Oh, she is young. She'll soon want to explore, don't worry!

@EugenieLaBorgia Thanks, Eugenie. I'll let it happen organically.

Sit by the door and read a book. She will sit next to you and inspect it from a safe place. It might take a few days.

@JimminyChristmas That's tricky because of the layout of the back end of the flat. Unfortunately I am unable to sit by the door; it's in a laundry. Difficult to explain. But bloody good idea.

Let go outside with a laser pointer🌹

Keep her inside? Outdoor cats die faster
Cavedweller · 46-50, F
@SW-User I hope so. I've the perfect space for safe play and exploration.

@Cavedweller don't force her. Maybe she'll want to go out with smudge sometime
Cavedweller · 46-50, F
@SW-User Yeah, Riff has a hero worship deal going on with Smudge. Follows her everywhere, emulates her, tries that nose bump that cats sometimes do. So if Smudge is outside then maybe she'll want to do what the big cat is doing.
