Water footprint. Ever hear this term?

I read an interesting article today in Canadian Geographic. Apparently, 2,000 liters of water are tainted in the production of one cheeseburger. Another interesting fact: Canada has the most fresh water per person. We have 7% of the world's supply and only represent .5% of the population. Much of our water is being lost to the world through shipments of grain and meat, and the Canadian government is interested in lessening loss.
We will hear it much more as global warming continues to heat up.
The same way water boils and turns to steam, the heated atmosphere will change the rain patterns and cycles, making them more erratic.
As the poles melt and sea levels rise, coastlines will be inundated.
Local climates will change in different directions depending on latitude and geography.
Adapting will be expensive. Loss of life on vast scales is inevitable.
Even if we could start changing it now, it would still take over a century to begin to slow the rate of change, and far longer before our descendents could return to the Earth's ecophere of the 1970's.

@hartfire yeah, the past generations that actualy had the opportunity to stop it, but instead laughed as they raped the natural resources are now the same ones telling me I have to sacrifice to make change.. fuck’em

They should build a wall! And make Trump pay for it!

You'd think after several thousand years of history, people would've figured it out by now...

We must adapt to nature, not expect it to adapt to us... It was around long before we were here, and will probably be here long after we're gone.

I would say it's like a carbon footprint

Screw all that, no one cares... but I wanna know how 2000 liters of water is tainted for a cheeseburger?
Deadcutie · 18-21, F
@SW-User so the water isn’t really tainted, since it can be recycled

@cattleboy but again, it’s not really wasted, it recycles back into nature

I hadn't heard the term before - but it is an interesting idea - thanks.

@NudasPriest It's new to me as well.

@SW-User I've started taking my water usage seriously lately - I know I waste a lot, and can do much better.
