I Hate Racism and Discrimination

Earlier, I made a post about how I prefer to be referred to as Native American rather than American Indian since I feel the latter term is a bit outdated these days and someone commented saying that I'm not really Native American because my people migrated to this land from Asia, that to do so is discriminatory because we all share the same origins. He wasn't wrong about all humans sharing the same origins but me identifying as Native American is discriminatory? Really? I told him I don't agree and that just because we all share the same roots doesn't mean we can't identify with our own cultural heritage. Then he went off calling me a hypocrite and saying I'm an example of why "people" (more like he himself) don't think highly of Native Americans' ability to learn. Nice! And I'm the one being discriminatory? He's not the first to tell me I can't identify as Native American because of our origins and he probably won't be the last. He came off as just another racist and that's not a word I use lightly. I wonder if people like him would make the same case for Europeans or Asians or whatever? Probably not.
All people migrated from Africa. So I guess we are all African now haha

Also you are very much Native American. The idiots living in America now say you aren't native to justify their ancestors stealing your land and killing your people. Don't let them take away your identity too.
@Qwerty14 I like this, thank you! I won't.

? no one is a single heritage unless you're in an isolated country.

i'm just american... i was born in the states. i'm mixed heritage. (cherokee, blackfoot, german, some country in africa where it's name's changed with every war it's suffered.)

? just american.

or what some accuse, white.

i have bigger fish to fry than listen to people who think skin color is a race.
@sighmeupforthat Cool beans.
Probably not. When pushed, he certainly showed his true colors, so to speak.
But I’ve noticed there is a revisionist storyline going through some groups who can’t accept the fact that European settlers came to the U.S., destroyed cultures that already existed, and were largely responsible for their genocide. Since they can no longer in good conscience be proud of that history (which they once were), now there is denial and excuses.

“They weren’t here first.” They were here when the Pilgrims and Puritans arrived. And they were here when the Spanish arrived before that. So the Native tribes were here before the ancestors of anyone else.

“They were fighting among themselves.” So were the English, Scottish, Welsh and Irish. Nobody would use that to justify an outside group coming in, taking over and wiping them all out.
