What are the thoughts that keep you awake at night? [I Am Sleepless Tonight]

Is it the future or the past that leaves you most restless.
The known or the unknown can both be equally worrisome.
Ynotjenn · F Best Comment
I get severe anxiety at night. Am I doing enough? Am I taking care of myself enough? Who is going to help if something happens? Am I saving enough? On and on. My brain spirals at night.

And yes - I purposefully commented on an older post 🤣
Bang5luts · M
@Ynotjenn oh. Well than you better get on it then young lady!🤨
Ynotjenn · F
@Bang5luts haha! See! I’m f’in crazy!🤣
Bang5luts · M
@Ynotjenn ehh.. Being an adult is difficult and being a woman with a conscience can't be any easier.

summersong · F
Usually my loneliness, fear that I’m going to be alone forever, wondering what is wrong with me that I can’t find anyone who wants to be with me, even casually. So I guess a combination of sadness about the present and lack of hope for the future.

The future, the unknown, the fear I'll never make my dreams come true
@SW-User or even a life coach, but it has to be a symbiotic relationship, one needing the guidance, the other with a desire to impart their knowledge, wisdom and experience

I hope you have someone like this in your life
SW-User
@Ghostinthemachine I don't unfortunately, but thank you maybe someday I will
@SW-User someone clever will see your potential :)

Can democracy survive the current situation?

Can we reverse climate change before the destruction is irreversible?

Do I have enough time left to actually accomplish any of my remaining goals in life?

Will I actually be able to make it to retirement, and once there, will I be able to enjoy it?

What will be the next crisis that descends upon my wife, and will we be able to get through it this time?

Can we keep the car running all right, and if not, can we afford to buy a new one?

Can we continue to maintain the house and grounds we have, or should we actually downsize like the wife wants?

That's a start, anyway.
@DunningKruger that’s a lot, and none of it simple
Try to rest easy, my friend. Tomorrow is another day, and your thoughts will always be with you, until you let them go
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
We survived the past. But that time has gone.
Whatever the loves or hates of it.

The present feels like a rollercoaster. Lots of movement up and down with the occasional twist in a direction we hadn’t counted on.

The future. Now that’s the scary bit !
@Picklebobble2 The world is a crazy place right now, unlike anything most have ever experienced before. Enjoy the ride as much as you can, stay safe :)
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
@Ghostinthemachine Excellent attitude and I agree completely !
@Picklebobble2 attitude is half the battle 😎

The future. I doubt I'll be ready for it.
SW-User
@Ghostinthemachine Most of the things I worry about are either happening now or imminent. There are family with serious health problems who have needed my help in the past and mostly likely will continue to need it in the future. My own health and resources are not sufficient to provide for those I care about as well as I'd like.
@SW-User yeah, then my advice is useless

I’m
So sorry for the situation you are in. You’re a good person for helping those in need, and it’s why you feel this worry, and carry this burden 🤗
SW-User
@Ghostinthemachine Thank you for your understanding. 🌼
It's generally just a jumbled mess of stuff, from that day or three years ago to the what if's of tomorrow.
@StormInaTeacup is any of it within your control? If not, don’t worry about it. Move on to today and tomorrow :)
smiler2012 · 56-60
{@ghostinthemachine ] nuclear anialation very chilling
@smiler2012 yeah, but it’s out of our control, so why worry about it
smiler2012 · 56-60
@Ghostinthemachine very much so i agree but i do not want to die that way as many would not . if you did not die in the blast you would have radiation sickness a slow and horrible death
@smiler2012 hope you die in the blast or it never happens. Win-win.
Just don’t worry
All the stupid things I’ve done and said.
@LilithoftheTrees I imagine it’s a long list

Don’t beat yourself up over it, you’re a good Goddess
@Ghostinthemachine Thank you my friend. I try.
@LilithoftheTrees that’s all we can ask of ourselves
Summerbreeze45 · 46-50, F
The past. Fear all that's happened in the past is set in stone for my future.
@Summerbreeze45 nothing is set in stone.
The past is history
The future is a mystery
Today is a gift, that’s why it’s called the present 🙂
reubles · 41-45, M
Just regular ole insomnia keeps me up
@reubles how long have you had it?
reubles · 41-45, M
@Ghostinthemachine on and off my whole life. But it's gotten pretty bad since my kidney failure. now regularly can go 2-4 days without sleep. 😬
@reubles I’m so sorry, that sounds awful…all of it🤗

Who shot biggie and Tupac
@SW-User still?
SW-User
@SW-User whew...I was worried for ya
drymer · 56-60, M
Funny enough, what keeps me awake is the unknowns of my pasts. The "whys" and the "what ifs"... Although I seldom lose my sleep, tbh...
@drymer so, not really regrets, just analyzing the reasons for why you did things, and how it charted the course for your path in life
drymer · 56-60, M
@drymer I think that’s healthy, in a way. It can help you with decisions you make going forward
SW-User
My daughter, my family. My job.
@SW-User kids are a never ending concern.
Family are...well, family.
What’s up with your job? Is it the times or always this way?
SW-User
@Ghostinthemachine currently lots going on that is emotionally draining
@SW-User I’m sorry, that’s tough. As if things weren’t drain go enough right now. Keep on keeping on🙂
Azlotto · M
I'm an insomniac. Every thought keeps me awake.
Azlotto · M
@Ghostinthemachine Thank you. Sleep is overrated. 😉
@Azlotto I wish there was some trick to capture it though.
Azlotto · M
@Ghostinthemachine Lol. Same here.
The future brings the most dread right now. Things are falling apart, and I don’t know where we’ll all land. 😞
@bijouxbroussard YOU will land on your feet. I know you will. You are so strong. Which isn’t to say you can’t have moments of worry and or weakness . We all do. It’s being human.
@Ghostinthemachine Thank you, my friend. 🤗

My horrible life choices and failed relationships. If this relationship is going to be another one down the drain. Then I start wondering if the problem is me since I've been engaged twice and can't find a decent guy.
@SkeetSkeet do you find you go from one relationship to another, or are there long breaks in between? One thing I found is I wasn’t ready to love someone else, until I was ready to love myself first
SW-User
The present troubles me more than past or future. The constant troublesome thought that I could be doing more with my time. I could be holding myself to a higher standard.
@SW-User It’s always good to hold yourself to a higher standard, b it not to the point where it cripples you into inaction, or fear. We could always be doing more, but sometimes doing a little bit at a time is most beneficial.
