I was like that when I was a kid. I'm sure it had to do with my being shamed - teased and laughed at when I said something. I learned to keep my mouth shut.

@Barebum61 not entirely. they have a couple kids who were over as well. my brother hung out with them, i just acted like i couldnt hear them over my headphones >~>
