Did you grow up with strict parents?

Yup and very controlling...though it only seemed to be with me.

More overprotective than anything. My dad was also a devout Catholic which put a damper on things.

Mine were strict about honesty, family loyalty and disrespect, but other than those, not really.

I started out with a horribly abusive meth monster father and a brain fried mother, my adoptive parents were strict but they never got a chance to enforce it because I was so happy to have someone I could love that disappointing them was the last thing I was going to allow to happen. I fussed at them about their medicines and getting enough sleep.

Not exactly. They could be protective, but they weren't strict disciplinarians and they gave me a lot of freedom.

my parents were pretty lax with me. i wasn't the best behaved kid but i guess i never gave them a reason to be strict.

They were only strict with me since I'm the oldest. The rest of them got to do whatever they like.

Yes, they were very controlling and a bunch of narcissists. They've controlled every decision in my life

Yes, my parents were strict. Keep in mind my mom was 38 & my dad was 57 when I was born. They lived in the past.

I guess it’s relative. They were more strict with their first three kids than with their youngest, and especially less so with my niece, whom they basically raised. They admit they made mistakes in the beginning and used the way they were parented as their guide, which makes sense.
