At what age(child's) should parents stop labelling everything their child says as backtalk

Unless they're trying to raise a doormat

I stressed that mine must be respectful in the way they questioned but never limited the questioning.

My dad is 69 and I’m 29, hasn’t happened yet lol

I never did this to my kid. If he was "talking back," there was usually a point in there somewhere.

@SW-User Yes!! I've noticed this with my younger sister and she raises pretty good arguments and I end up agreeing with her 🤭

@assemblingaknob If you want to have smart kids, you have to have smart conversations with them. My kid blows me away with his logic sometimes.

Wow! I just remembered my mom used to scold me for that. Can't believe it. I was such a wuss. She did eventually stop, though. I don't know when, but definitely by the time I moved out.

Some people just cannot stand having their ideas challenged ...I think that's a big part of your question .. Maybe

hey it depends
In my culture even if you’re 80 you still can’t talk back to your parents
"backtalk" is the lazy mans way of not dealing with issues that matter to those we love.
MartinTheFirst · 22-25, M
you shouldnt label everything as backtalk ever because that'd show complete lack in understand for what's reasonable and what isnt.
