Should I drive them or not?

Just because I have a car my kids want me to drive them to school. Shouldn't they have to walk 2 miles to school up-hill both ways like I had to?

If my parents wanted to make sure we got to school they did. If not we'd spend the day at the beach instead.

cruiser that is the problem with kids today do not want exercise rather be chauffeur driven and parents do it like you we had to trail to school sun hail rain or snow then we wonder why there is obesity
If they don't want to take the bus, then they should walk. A lesson in responsibility and consequences won't hurt them here.

I used to walk to school and back and it never hurt me...

they should, though nowadays they're more used to having motorcycles and rides

@SW-User They are using Covid as an excuse not to take the bus so I said why not just walk then.

Seems a bit rough on them 😀
@Ian123 Initially, I thought that, too... but, reading the replies, I saw that they have the option to go to school on the bus, yet they choose not to.

If you can't drive or your car is broken down, you still have to get yourself to work somehow, be it on the bus, cycling or walking. If you don't want to go to work on the bus, your boss will take a dim view of you ringing in to say "Hey, dad won't drive me to work today, so I'm not coming in at all".

Now I think that these children need to learn about responsibility and consequences of their choices. It will do them well to know that they still have the responsibility to get themselves to school on time and that their choices in life come with consequences that they might not like much at all.

@HootyTheNightOwl I suppose it depends on how they’ve been brought up and how old they are. If it’s a secondary school yes they should go on the bus
