Could, perhaps. But it's too much messing around with nature. The poor kids would end up in a 12 step group called Robotics Anonymous, probably with a virtual therapist.

Most patents use the internet and tv to babysit their kids instead of parenting anyways. So would it really be THAT much different?

No. Even the most advanced AI is still not capable of handling the complexity of human emotion or behavior.
