Was it common to share a bed with a sibling when you were growing up?

It was normal in the USA when my grandma was growing up, and normal In England when my mom was growing up there.
Since I have eight siblings, I share a room, but also a bed with one of my sisters. One of her friends just come over and said, "oh. Like little house on the Prairie" 😂

I shared a room with my sister growing up but not a bed. We did used to lay in the same bed to watch movies sometimes
I shared a room with my sister all while growing up, we shared a double bed until I was about 10, then we had bunk beds.
In the middle ages many problems developed from people living too closely
@Jakefromnj incest is never a good idea

@Whiterosesociety I know it’s not a good idea today especially with genetic risks I was just wondering if it was always like that or did our Genetics change over time.
@Jakefromnj peculiar question, I mean we are only talking about a couple hundred years and this is broad behavior patterns which are not genetic to begin with. They are environmental...

Nah we built our own house. Had room for 5 beds
AmmieBell · 18-21, F
@pride49ours was built by my great grandparents, and it's just always been in the family. They had a lot of kids too, but they built theirs with the assumption that all the girls would share one room and all the boys would share another I guess 😂

@AmmieBell my grandparents lived in a house basement they built. Then moved upstairs once it got built. I've always lived in a rural brick house my whole life

@pride49 I've lived in the same house forever too lol. We lived here with my grandparents until my grandpa died. Now my grandma gets her own room, the babies share with my parents, and I'm locked in with six siblings 😂

Not for me, bunk bed

@AmmieBell that is crowded but bunk beds with a older brother led to great fights. He would throw gtoss things down on me and i would put my legs straight up and kick him and the mattress to the floor. We both got beat afterwards but it still was fun and we still loved each other

@ronisme1 Sounds easier to just share a bed so I can shove my sister off and act like it was an accident lol

Ir was for me.. First all in a family bed together at night, but as our family grew, the oldest child moved to their own room.. Next birth caused the next oldest to join the the first.. In my case I joined my older sister and my Mom and Dad kept our younger sister in their bed.
For big families, there are not enough rooms in a home... so kids learn to sleep together..
