What lies were you told when you were a kid that you believed?

Santa Claus, The Easter Bunny, and the principal had a spanking machine in her office.

This last one was not exactly a lie, however. When I was about seven, the principal pulled one little girl out of line returning to class, sat down on a chair in the hallway, and proceeded to paddle her. I never knew what she had done, or what led to this, but I knew your weren't supposed to be spanked in a public school. Naturally, all the kids wanted to watch (we were returning from lunchtime) but we were ordered to "go to your rooms!" It was the only one I ever witnessed, but the spanking machine story went on for much longer.

My parents told us that if we lied we would get bumps on our tongue.

When we lied they would say "Let me see your tongue" We would refuse to show them and thus they knew we were lying.

Santa, God, the tooth fairy etc. Same old crap kids believe today!!

That there weren’t any sharks in the water we were swimming at. I believed until I was 14 that sharks just didn’t swim in that part of the ocean 🤦🏻‍♀️
