Have you found the right balance between work and family?

I struggle to get the balance right as the main money earner in our marriage. Any advice

Biggest important things delegation of duties amongst all parties involved. I'm not talkin ironclad lockdown contract penalties kind of thing but a good understanding of how the operations are going to run by everyone involved is very essential. This is a merger so you're working together here-- you should be playing to your strengths, covering each other's weaknesses so that as a unit together you are stronger. Now if you can both go into this with the idea that the goal is to do whatever you can to give as much and free up as much time as possible for the other person-- you will find your life to be phenomenal. 馃槈

@Kerrmit84 being disturbingly practical means I shoot from the hip and if you want to make an impact on me and be truly touching to my heart-- it's when you make that effort to make my life easier. When you see my day today and you find some way to just shave 5 to 10 minutes of meaninglessness off of it, that's a blessing. So I figure if I value that that giving that to another should have the same effect upon them. Now we collaborate instead of compete. 馃槈

Important to remember a job is a job. Starting with setting a couple of days where you leave on time.

Write a list of what needs to be done and if things can be delegated out do by others. It frees you up and also means junior staff get experience and additional responsibility.

If you are in a big firm a quick discussion with your line manager of concerns you have can help particularly if they have family of their own.
