When one decides to bring a child into existence, should he or she have something to offer the child?

SW-User
Yes. Personally, even if I could give my child all my love, I don't want to bring one into poverty or a life full of struggle and pain. I would like to be able to provide for them and give them what they need to grow into someone that is confident and skilled.

I would hope so. You kind of owe that child your very last ounce of love and attention and dedication. That is a sapient being you wrenched out of nothingness and thrust into the world. The least you can do is make sure that kid has the best possible chance at a kick ass life.

That should be the goal

Of course. Something that happens sometimes that I can’t stand is when a person has children, not so they can love them & shape them well. But so that they will be loved. Being a parent is a tremendous responsibility. Shaping people that will go out into the world & do good or do damage. That’s a huge task to take on. It shouldn’t be done hastily & really should consider what they will give to a new little person.
