What would you do if you found out your young teen had a YouTube channel?

Where they did or talked about bad things...
My nieces and nephews are so secretive. I typed in one of their names to pull up social media accounts.

I found a video of my niece. Apparently it was her first video. She said she was gonna share so juicy stories..I will be monitoring.🤨

And yes I have tried talking to them. They are teens, they aren't gonna talk to adults. I can already see them falling into the same traps their parents did.
Their parents don't even talk to me so..oh well?

@SW-User Yea, it's not smart to make a youtube channel in your real name. (niece did).you'll be an adult one day, and things live on the internet forever...

@SW-User I am sure not all of have a foul mouth on them like you. 😏

Once they get to be teens you don't have a lot of control over them. This is the culmination of the previous years. I remember way back, there was a question posted on here a mother was having a problem with her two year old. Most of the answers were..... Walk away and let them scream their head off. My heart broke. That is teaching the child that it is not valued, eventually they get the message and just don't care any longer leading up to troubled teens. When a young child is having trouble coping such as two year old temper tantrums you soothe them and help them navigate back to sanity. This builds up a trust that they feel they can always lean on you.

@curiosi I don't want control over them. they just need help. I want to help but as I stated on other posts, myself and my siblings have no relationship, so there's no telling what my siblings have told their children about me...lies I'm sure.

@iamnikki I know, just thought you might like to hear my opinion for when you have your own.

I probably wouldn't allow it.

I am not there in parenting yet, but if they were a very young teen like 14 and under, how I respond would depend on the content. I think the word "grounded" would be used somewhere in there.

Why don't you talk to the parents.
Butterflykisses24 · 51-55, F
@iamnikki yes I read that.I was wondering why.Its your sibling.Miss mine.Hes dead now.
iamnikki · 31-35, F
@Butterflykisses24 we've never had a relationship. We are many years apart, they are twins. We are like night and day. They've made mistakes that cost them their future. they live a struggle filled life...we have nothing in common and they don't try. I've taken them out to lunch and asked why we never had a relationship, why they never did anything with me. A cousin, who is same age as them asked me about it. She says they are jealous. Could be true
