My in-laws are a nightmare.

I've been living with them for 1 year. I can't move out because my house has tennants inside and they won't leave til January. (due to initial contract)

My in laws expect me to behave and act like them. They want to change who I am so I fit in with the way they live.

They can't accept me for who I am.
My husband is happy with me.
We get along perfectly fine.

But his mother is manipulative, cruel and sly.

@DonaldTrumpet sometimes it's not that easy. You have to understand where she is coming from. Anyway, do u have an in-law who treats you like shit or even when u dont live with them but meet them during gatherings and would say something foul or even just make a nasty remark that would embarass you in front of everybody or even just between u two just to make u feel bad..? If not, good for u.

Their house, their rules...but I understand your dilemma. My own MIL? Most days I would not mind seeing her run over by a truck. The rest of the days I would like to be driving the truck.

in my case, they want to live in ours. Without asking my permission he just let them live there. I thought the reason we got our own place was to live on our own.then.. the brothers the nephews..not being selfish but u need to have space, privacy and all.. its like ur own place but u can't move and breathe. Talking with husband he was insulted.. he did not understand. My parents could not do the same as they understood their place. Just sharing. At least u can leave when the time comes. Good luck.
