What do you do with a family member that lies all the time and everyone believes them?

Quizzical · 46-50, M
I assume killing them is not an option? 🤔
Quizzical · 46-50, M
@yeronlyman It's a notorious killer!
yeronlyman · 51-55, M
@Quizzical I always have one tucked away in the press just in case 😬
Quizzical · 46-50, M
@yeronlyman lmao 😁
treat them like strangers.
morrgin · F
@TwiddlerofThumbs that's what I do and everyone gets mad at me for it. I just can't bring myself to feel any friendliness or even act with faked friendliness towards someone that causes so many problems for me
booboo · M
don't tell them anything about you or your life!!
morrgin · F
@booboo that's easy when I already avoid them
curiosi · 61-69, F
It's difficult to wrap your head around why others don't see it. Remember that they treat others different in order to get away with abusing their victim. All you can do is stay strong.
morrgin · F
@curiosi I meant to create my own change like taking action and steps to change my own situation. I know what you mean though and thanks I still need to be reminded sometimes
curiosi · 61-69, F
@morrgin It's tempting to lash out, my mother is a psychopath. She is 80 years old and been like that all her life, there is no way to win. She believes she is special and nothing will ever change her mind. She was spoiled rotten by her father and she believes she is something extremely special.
morrgin · F
@curiosi same kind of person I'm dealing with now
MaryJanine · 61-69, F
My sister-in-law is like that. You don't know when she exaggerates and when she doesn't, or outright lies. My brother (her husband) knows she hides $10.00 or $20.00 at a time every time she gets paid (he saw her rolling it up and hiding it in her purse) and then she has the unmitigated nerve to ask him for cab fare, or for money for a package of cigarettes, or money to have her hair done. He tells her, he doesn't have it and he knows she's hiding her money. She doesn't need it - more often than not, my nephew (who works in the same store she does) drives her and she doesn't need her hair done every month, either. You have to endure what can't be believed and correct that person in front of everyone who believes their lies. The truth will out!
LostGuy · 26-30, M
Nothing. Go back to my own den, unless it's affecting me in some way. Eventually the truth will come out anyways.

Next time they told a lie I'd shout out "Liar. Your pants are on fire."
xixgun · M

Then drop them off the boat.
morrgin · F
@xixgun we have a bass boat. Sides are lower so it would be easier to make the drop
xixgun · M
@morrgin attagirl
hunkalove · 61-69, M
Steal their wallet.
SW-User
@hunkalove lol I love that
greenmountaingal · 70-79, F
No one really believes them. They have to pretend they do (sometimes even to themselves) because they have learned to be afraid of that person's power.
morrgin · F
@greenmountaingal Very true. The men in our family are the type that never want to admit they are ever afraid or scared of anything, but they are afraid of the power this person has.
greenmountaingal · 70-79, F
@morrgin Often that lying power person controls most of the money in the family.
rjc36 · 56-60, M
Don't fight or argue with them. Sooner or later the truth will come out. All you can do is let it pass.
morrgin · F
@rjc36 It's self defeating arguing with a liar
Tatsumi · 31-35, M
Toxic people are best avoided at all costs.

Except for me, because I'm the good kind of toxic.
morrgin · F
@Tatsumi hard to avoid them when they are family and live in same house
SW-User
I'd be disappointed at the family members that willingly believe a liar all over again
morrgin · F
@SW-User you hit the mark and it goes beyond disappointment
SW-User
@morrgin I know. I remember a quote saying that the definition of insanity is to do the SAME thing over and over again and expect a different result. Believing a liar over and over again and expecting to be rewarded with truth is so stupid XD
SW-User
Be yourself and don't get dragged into it all...

In my case..

She got found out in the end.

Fuck that bitch!
SW-User
I agree with the other answers here....just keep them well at bay and don't let them into your life and details
yeronlyman · 51-55, M
One big set of ear plugs for you and a box of tissues for your family members 😬
Eternity · 26-30, M
Challeng them...to MORTAL KOMBAT.
