How were you disciplined growing up?

Good old-fashioned bare-bottom spanking.

My dad used to beat me with a slipper until I was 16. My mum used to ban me from using the internet plus ground me , stop my pocket money and send me to bed early which was more effective than the beatings. My dad also made me do chours and if I did them all right and pass the test he would let me come downstairs for a few hours.

Discipline is not the same as punishment. Punishment is a part of discipline.

I was incredibly spoiled. Never grounded or any chores or any punishments. Am I a spoiled brat now who is very materialistic? Yeah. And no I don't care.

I was spanked over Mom's knee, by hand or later with her brush. Then at 10 I was "too old" for that so she switched to grounding and time in my room "to think about what I had done."

I greatly preferred the spanking as it was over and done with.

Wooden spoon and yelling in pre-school years, later banned access to computer, then inducing the feeling of shame through mocking and ridiculing, which was very effective in my case.

I was mostly spanked but my parents figured that a grounding or denial of privileges woyld hurt more. A spanking pain would be over in only A few minutes and I could go on doing what I liked doing.
