Do children pick up their parents mannerisms?

Examples?
SW-User
Some are in DNA, my husband has jumpy legs and I noticed my son having this as a baby when old enough to sit up, he wasn't old enough to be thinking in a way to copy my h/b.

I worked with a girl who separated from her sons father before he was born and her son only ever sees the dad once every few weeks, she told me that since he was a small child her son did this thing with a zip on his hoodies pulling it up and down in a certain way and tugging at it and pulling the labels off in the exact same way that her ex b/f did.

I noticed myself holding my hands in a certain way over my mouth when sitting silently like the way my mother used to.. But I always hated that when she did it, it in my opinion looked awful so I have made deliberate attempts over the years to not do this and switch my movement to something else and I've broken the habit.. I do notice perhaps if I'm tired I might do it when not thinking.

ANYWAYS>. sorry for the humongous answer.. I got carried away..

No, I like it. It’s always nice when someone takes the time to reply with actual content rather than a quick answer. I think that’s pretty interesting. @SW-User

Definitely. For example parents that swear in front of their kids

My father was a sailor and had the matching potty mouth. We knew every swear word in the book by the time we were 8. @rickfreeman15

Yes. It can be very endearing to watch.

I'm short-tempered, because my parents were short-tempered, and because their parents in turn were short-tempered, except from my grandpa, from my father's side..he just didn't care.

@GlitterBug Yes, I'm learning to keep cool. What is your example of picking up mannerism, that inspired you to ask this question?
GlitterBug · 22-25, F
My parents have certain words and phrases that they use often, my little sisters have picked them up and use them in conversations. Was just thinking about the things me and my sisters do that my parents also do. @Dan193

@GlitterBug That's interesting.

Yes. No one quite understands how or why but you'd be amazed at the things they do that are carbon copies of exactly the same things their parents do.

I sit the same way my mother always sat and I tend to do the thumbs up like my dad always has, but I haven’t noticed my girls picking up anything.

I think some are innate.
