Why does it seem like so many kids do not have any coping skills these days ?

LyricalOne · F
Too much time looking at their phone screens doesn’t lend itself to knowing how to cope with real people in real life.

@Fernie You were smart ...not sure what I was thinking ...don't get me wrong I love my son ,but I'm scared for him ...all I can do is try my best to do what I think is right
Fernie · F
@SW-User No, it as nothing to do with love...clearly you DO love that boy or you would just give him free reign...I have a feeling he will be just fine CP...really. Scary as hell right now but he'll be OK! He's a lucky boy

@Fernie Thanks !

I think it's because technology has dragged them away from interacting with each other and society. Screenagers. We, as kids, had to deal with each other's personalities good and bad. We did it eye to eye and learned how to communicate and compromise. So many of this techno generation are so thin skinned ...their social skills stink, coping skills non-existent. Interacting with people online teaches nothing. Cripes, they go right to suicide when things get the least bit difficult or unpleasant. They will be running things at some point

@Fernie It enrages me ...At one point I said " So sorry to bore you so much that you need your phone to entertain you " 🤬

Poor parenting.
Education.
Societal pressures.
SW-User
Yes technology but also snowplow parenting - removing all obstacles to make the kids' path easier.

True ...I find a lot of parents want to do what is easy ,not what is right for their child because it's what is easy to them @SW-User

they are spending too much time online - or their parents are....
fun4us2b · M
@SW-User I've heard the younger folks coming up behind us do not allow their kids online time - hopefully, somehow they've learned
SW-User
@fun4us2b Not only that ,but they don't monitor what they are doing online either
fun4us2b · M
@SW-User The yunguns don't get drivers licenses and don't buy houses...
