My 5 years old niece really loves going downtown to shop.

She's been like, making up excuses for us to go downtown all week.
She's tried convincing me to go grocery shopping there, but she's realized by now that you don't go downtown to buy eggs...

So now I'm hit with things like "I need a new bicycle auntie", "Auntie, you need new pants today", and "Auntie, I want Burger King for dinner!" she's even trying to entice me with Starbucks.

So I'm like, sitting with my PC, when it starts pouring down outside. I hear her and her brother going absolutely ballistic and she runs up to me.

"We gotta go to the umbrella store right now!"

Debating whether or not we should put on rain clothes and take them shopping for umbrellas, even though they already have one, just because my niece is sorta cute sometimes.

its none of my business ,but as a Dad and Grandpa
its not a good idea to spoil them that everything they want they get
My son is 10 ,he has $300 ,he earned every dime of it
picking up yard ,crushing cans ,doing chores for his Grandma's
He told me yesterday he wants to buy me a zero gravity chair ,I have a bad back
He has been saving the money since last March and some before last Christmas .
Teach them the value of money early ,and that its not grown on trees and how to save
When it counts ,they will be ready ,or self entitled expecting everything they want to just come to them

@rckt148 Eh, she's just five. I'll definitely spoil her less when she's older, but right now I'll be the splurging aunt 😄

Your son sounds like an absolute sweetheart. 💕
