What do you think about your grandparents?

Pineapple · 100+, F
my dads dad died some years back, i never saw him as an adult though, wasn’t a nice man... bullied my sister. dads mum, horrible woman. don’t see her either. none of the family do. bitter old woman.
my mums dad, died some years back too. was comical with his miserableness and strictness 😂 needed looking after a lot after a stroke... lived with us for a while.
my mums mum, circle of life - as a kid she literally tried to take me off my mum... i practically lived with her, she spoilt me rotten. these days she lives at my work place and i’m one of her carers. love her to pieces

I think they're incredibly strong people. But I worry I won't be in a good position to properly deal with the situation when they inevitably pass.

They were amazing, hard working, diverse but tough individuals.. I have always inspired to be like them.. They blessed me genetically... They have all passed on..
They’re fun ^^ I like spending time with them but I’m also glad they’re far enough away that it feels like a proper break to go and see them rather than it just be normal...which idk I feel bad saying that, but I know I wouldn’t appreciate them as much if i saw them too often
@NorthernRoses awwh ^^ how far away is she?

@Mildreadful She's in like, the Northern part of Norway? I recently moved to like, the middle soo she's like a 5-hour train away (or a one-hour plane ride, but train is cheaper... and better for the environment but)
@NorthernRoses *shivers at the thought of northern Norway*
Without her, my childhood would have been worse. She cooked things that I'll never replicate. She loved me when no else did, and fought for me whenever she could. I will always miss her.
He was a good provider, who was very stoic. I respected him a lot.
I never knew my fraternal grandparents, they died before I was born.

Never knew them much.

My grandmother was great although she died when i was very young, and my grandfather came back from the war and raped my mother and her sisters so i'm glad he's dead but his actions have had huge repercussions on our entire extended family.

I love and respect them as grandparents. Though I only ever really spent time with my maternal grandma. The others had passed either before I was born or while I was very young.

I don't think about them much. I wish I could have met my grandmother before she died a few years back, but I try not to dwell on it.

They are all death, and I wish they they still lived. I loved my grandfather I had so much fun ranting about all stupid shit to him lol.

To be honest, I didn't much like my Dad's parents and I wasn't close to them at all (long story). My Mom's parents were different though...I was really close to my grandmother (whom I referred to as "nanny") she was my favorite of all my grand parents. I liked my grandfather, but I really didn't know him that well. He was ill for several years of my life and passed away when I was 9.

Grandfather, meh. My nan? Immortal deity.
I was so young when they passed away.
