I just want to be acknowledged by my Dad. Is that too much to ask or am i just acting like a kid?

I just bought my first car by myself, and when I told him about it, he was disappointed in me for getting it. I did everything he told me to do about buying a car and everything. I figured would be proud of me, but instead he feels left out as if we never discussed this subject before, but we did! I'm just trying to understand what I did wrong... (Sorry about the long description.)
