I got home to learn my 12 year old daughter had a fight with a 14 year old boy on school

The boy smacked my daughter's smaller, younger friend. My daughter then called the boy back and confronted him. The boy swore at her and tried to hit her too, but then she fought back.

They ended up in the principal's office and after hearing what happened my daughter was free to carry on as usual.

What surprises me is this daughter is the quiet one of the twins. But I have posted before about how I teach my daughters to fight to defend themselves.

Seems my training is paying off as the boy never got a punch in.

Good for her!!!!!!! Good for you too for bringing her up that way!!! She won't grow up feeling less or vulnerable because she is a Woman!
iMystery · M
@Fernie That is the whole plan indeed.
WildHeart · 41-45, F
Well I don't condone violence of any form but one should always be able to defend oneself.
iMystery · M
@WildHeart Yeah rather know how and not need it, than to need it and not know how.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
girls can be vicious when they defend themselves.
Fernie · F
@cherokeepatti ha! never have, never will

@Fernie my youngest sister in first grade popped a third-grader in the mouth on the first day of school on the playground. He was the largest kid in 3rd grade and he walked up to her and looked down and said "Hey there little girl" and she thought he was bullying her and she punched him in the mouth, he had a bloody lip and walked off bawling. Last time he tried to go around her.

@cherokeepatti I love that story...I WAS her as a kid...still am

Bravo ! Give her a medal.
iMystery · M
@Wraithorn One platinum medal coming up! Lol
If only all kids .... had kind hands and feet. Glad nothing serious happened - what a worry for you and Your children's Mum.
Your daughter being involved in a fight is a slight give away. If your not worried then that's your prerogative @iMystery
iMystery · M
@TornByWater No I am not worried. That is because I teach my kids to fight to defend themselves. In fact I told her if he should try his luck with her again, she should do it all over again.

I have what is considered an "unpopular opinion" when it comes to raising my kids, but I really dont care what others think.. you see I even teach them how to kill if they really have to and if their lives are at risk and I am not around.

Good luck to the one who should ever try to rape any of them, god forbid.
I hear you. And I agree with you and I have put both my girls in karate - sadly they didn't like it but they go to the gym with me and swim and keep active. I have taught them to walk away if big mouths talk nasty to them but if they are being physically attacked then fight back..... flight or fight mode happens to most victims in situations like that I think anyway .... the thing is most bullies get a shock when they pick on the quiet kids or the kids who are pretty or just want to go to school. I also tell my girls to report anything that involves messing with their lives. If it's reported then the circumstances can be seen in a clear light - if the details are missed out and not reported it's kinda like reading the last three pages of a book..... the whole story needs to be told so tell your daughter to report everything and name and shame the buggers 😎👍@iMystery

You must proud of her. She stood up for her friend and didn't back down from a fight when she had to. I'd say you did a good job there.
iMystery · M
@FLami Beyond proud. My kids don't start fights, but they know how to finish it. And thank you.

@dunpender Very true. For this reason I have a whole different set of training planned for my son once he gets just a little older. He is only 5 now. I will start him up next year.
