I Won't Judge You

lasergraph · 70-79, M
Everyone has that mask they wear in public.

BARRIERS
(c) 2017 Edward York.

I have my barriers put in place,
To protect me where I go.
My mask is meant to fool your eyes,
But only meant for show.

I am prepared for what may come,
And you will not see fear.
Don't think weakness because the face is soft,
Or because you see a tear.

I won't believe the things you say,
You won't fool me with a smile.
You might believe I have let you in,
But I am laughing all the while.

I warned you from the beginning,
I told you from the start.
I will never let you come inside,
There's no pathway to my heart.
@lasergraph A beautiful read. Thank you for sharing.

@PuppetOnStrings Thank you. It is one of my older ones, not sure if I ever posted it here. I can't keep up with them.
