I Need to Vent
I don't know what to do.
My boss asked if I wanted to paint one of the castle-shaped wall display cases we recently got in. I said yes, even though I didn't really want to, because I don't know this boss very well and saying no feels like it'd hurt her perception of me as an employee.
I tried, but it looked pretty bad, so I decided to take it with me home to work on it off-hours. Really hoped I could fix it. I haven't been able to yet. It still sucks.
However, as I was taking a little break to let some of the paint dry, my sister's cat came and chewed up the tip of one of the towers. It's really visible.
It might've been ugly before, but now it can't be displayed anymore even if I manage to fix the painting on it. The only way I can imagine fixing this problem is to buy it, but I can't afford that this month... And I'd still have to let my boss know I let her down.
You would've thought it would feel worse if the castle tip got chewed up on a version that actually looked good, but at least then people would know that I did a good job on it. It wouldn't feel like I actively wasted mine and everyone else's time and destroyed one of the store's wares.
This just feels like I was paid to make a nice cake and made a How To Basic video instead.
