I Hate Going to the Gynecologist

Lol so today I had my first gynecologist appointment, which went well.. however it was very awkward.
The woman was very uptight and prudish, which is what I expected from a gynecologist.. but she crossed lines.
She literally said “I know I shouldn’t be saying this because you’re my patient, but woman to woman you shouldn’t be with a man that much older than you” like wtf. Isn’t this something she could get in big trouble for?
She even asked if I wanted to seek counseling and I told her I already had previously and hated it, and she literally kept insisting that I do it and that this counseling is different and will help me understand why being with an older mature man isn’t wise.
She literally wouldn’t stop pressing the issue, no matter what topic we talked about it was always how young I am and how much time I have ahead of myself to not settle yet.
I started to question maybe she was in a similar situation when she was younger and didn’t have anyone there to tell her what she was telling me, because she mentioned she had a 17year old kid and was a single mom her whole life...
Regardless, was she in the wrong for belittling my life decisions? Legally couldn’t she be in big trouble?
Also when I go back in 3 months to start my birth control do you think I should make my boyfriend go with me? I thought about doing it to make her feel uncomfortable the way I did.. lol. But maybe I shouldn’t?
Personal opinions?

Yeah it was none of her business. But from personal experiences with multiple friends I would kinda have to agree. You are just starting your life while he is well established in his. Now while I know nothing of the situation and for all I know he is a nice guy who only wants the best for you. However, you have to understand that you have your own life and need to decide for yourself what you want to become. Not saying you are, but don't base all of your decisions on someone else. There is always the chance that things dont work out, no matter what age you are. You need to establish yourself and decide where you want to go in life. Live out your goals and follow your dreams. If he can get behind that its good. If not, you seriously need to consider her advice. But yeah its not her place to get involved, but perhaps she's seen some things that caused her to be concerned. There are people that care enough to show you all the possible consequences of decisions you make. Its not always judgemental. Best of luck to you and I hope everything works out.

@StonerGirl69 no problem

It's not your problem about your doctor's past life decisions. You're not going to go through the same life path as she did.
A gynecologist appointment should NEVER make you feel uncomfortable.

Try and find a new doctor!

@SaraxKay I totally agree!

I don't think she'd be in any trouble legally but you don't have to go back to the same Dr

This is what I think too, and coming from a woman your opinion holds more weight than mine. @SW-User

She's projecting a touch, but also trying to do her job, which is the health of your body. If she feels she can help you, she will offer her opinion.

However, if you feel it's too much, you can choose not to tell her about such things anymore, or switch doctors. But she could have taken notes, so any new doctor who gets your notes will see this.

Don't take your bf when you go back. That's a bit much.

Lol wut? What ever happened to keep your opinions to yourself? How old is your BF anyway? This one girl at my work who is 25 is going out with a 38 year old.
StonerGirl69 · 26-30, F
@Shaun I’m about to be 21 and he just turned 41.

Take your boyfriend,that will shut her up. If anything it was very unprofessional of her
StonerGirl69 · 26-30, F
@bamaboylick lol that’s what I figured, she’ll definitely shut up and be professional when he’s in the room.
bamaboylick · 61-69, M
@StonerGirl69 yup! I’d recommend finding a new gyn too
Lol how old is your boyfriend???? Just curious but none the less she's not your mother she should butt out
StonerGirl69 · 26-30, F
@RadiantRuby lol he’s 41, and I’m almost 21.
@StonerGirl69 She's a psychopath ignore her! Girl it's your life live it. I'm proud of you for being responsible and taking birth control..... you going to a gyno shows your responsible and your taking care of your self. Please change doctors. I don't like people who over step the boundaries.
She was way out of line and was imposing on you in an unprofessional manner.
I like your idea.
OpenlyHonestly · 31-35, F
How did she know who were you with? She shouldn't ask such personal questions! It was unprofessional of her.
lesbgirl · 26-30, F
Find another doctor.

@StonerGirl69 well age doesn’t matter in my opinion as long as there is chemistry. Just try to find another doctor
Terrance · 41-45, M
