I Love Mountain Climbing

Pine green all around
Feet across the ground
Silence has a sound
that reverberates and rebounds

Over rock and root I step
contemplating old regrets
Thinking thoughts I thought I'd left
That have recoiled, but won't abet

And as I walk I shed each thought
regret falls away; uncaught
with a newer feeling; brought
Understandings never sought

Ascending within my mind
As my feet pace while keeping time
A consciousness that climbs
the inner mountains of sublime

And as I wander on
I let my feelings start to spawn
A new day with a new dawn
And a newer picture drawn
