I Love Music
Lady Sings The Blues
I came across this album some fifteen years after it had been released.
It was a dreary Saturday afternoon and I was rummaging around in my favourite Black Music shop in Londons Soho. I was already a massive fan of Billie Holiday and of Tamla Motown so, to see them combined like this was amazing. Buying the album was a “no brainer”, as they say.
The following Saturday I was back in Soho. Only this time, I was trawling through the video shops looking for a copy of the film. As luck would have it, I found two. One is still in its unbroken plastic wrapper and takes pride of place in my film collection. The other wore out long ago due to repeated viewings.
I hope you enjoy this little bitter-sweet slice of an amazing film and an amazing soundtrack.
