So true: so very true. I am not a religious person, but over the last 35 years I have collected no less than TEN CDs of Messiah, each different in their own way, but all beautiful and uplifting. Showing my age, I even have a CD version of Malcolm Sargent, the (then) Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Huddersfield choral Society in a good, old-fashioned loud and slow version, recoded in mono a year before I was born in 1946.

Is Classicfm trying to depress me further this morning after the Mahler? Now I am hearing Bach St Matthew Passion. "Wir setzen uns mit tränen nieder". I love it really, but I need cheerful music to lift my spirits this morning. Wonder what is over on Radio 3?
Oh good Scheherazade up next; that will cheer me up.

@jennypenny I like your spanking reminisces. However, you are a talented writer so please, please, please could you write more about music?
You are obviously a music lover and knowledgeable; it is what I really like and wish to talk about.

Just heard Mahler 5th Symphony, 4th movement. It is such a sad piece of music, I cannot take it this morning as it is making me cry.
