I Am Feeling Heartbroken

My therapist of four years doesn’t want to treat me anymore. I’m so upset. I tried to be honest with her and tell her about my issues. I was scared she wouldn’t want to treat me but she insisted that nothing I could say would make her not want to. She’s leaving me like everybody else does.
I tried to open up to her about feelings and thoughts that I’ve kept to myself. She told me that I didn’t even want help and that I’m wasting my time and money.

That IS true of psychoanalysis, period. Why? Because MOST patients NEVER get well from "therapy"!

Would you keep going to a dentist who never was able to fix a dental cary? Or a tutor who couldn't help you with the subject you need to learn? Or muffler shop which couldn't fix your bad muffler?

You get the idea, right?

If you wouldn't keep using ineffective professionals, tradespeople, service providers, product...so WHY would you WANT to continue to use an ineffective mental health therapy...?

It does not mean that your feelings aren't valid; just that psychoanalytic therapy is ineffective.

That doesn't sound right. Therapists don't just start refusing to see a patient without cause. Would be unethical. Did something happen?
@Madhatter we had an argument because she thinks that I’m not listening to her/refusing her help.

@basicallyugly Well then, it's not like she's abandoning you. She's saving you time and money on a service that she believes you aren't utilizing. Way I see it, there are two possibilities: 1.) She's right and ending your sessions may be a better way to help you. 2.) She's wrong and not a very good therapist, so you probably should be seeking out help from a better source anyway.

That's what I think, anyway. Based on the very little I know about the situation. :p
This doesn't sound like a therapist of the finest ilk. I mean, I don't know the whole situation, but this sounds weird and bad and like you're better off without her.

You need a new therapist. J had a therapist of 2 years and was upset he was going to be transferred. I promised myself to never get close to anyone with my thoughts again.

If you’re not following any of her advice and she doesn’t feel like she’s helping you, a parting of the ways is probably best.
Sorry. Be glad to talk to you if you want.
