NPC -- I am a country girl, I was raised with guns and I can shoot. I am not going to carry a gun and anything else would just get me killed. We have lost a lot here in this country when we cant feel safe anymore without a weapon.

the analogy challenges the notion that one can cure an "ailment" by doing more of the same.

the fat guy thinks that he can get rid of his high cholesterol etc etc by eating and drinking more crap. you think that you can cure mass shootings by putting more guns on the streets. both result in death!

the doctor shows the fat idiot the evidence that his strategy doesn't work. Obama and people like me show idiots like you the evidence that your strategy doesn't work. your counter-arguments have no basis in fact so, you resort hyperbole, posturing, threat and insult.

the UK has probably the most stringent gun control laws on the planet. we have had three mass shootings in my lifetime. in the USA, i can buy a military grade assault weapon as easily as i can buy a BB gun in the UK. in 2015 alone, you had 352 mass shooting incidents. that's more than one per day. that doesn't include armed robberies and other criminal activities. it's a nutjob with a gun killing people because he's having a bad day.

surely you don't have to be Einstein to understand all of that. all you have to do is actually engage your brain. it's quite simple really, even chimpanzees can do it.

a chronically obese guy goes to his doctor for a routine check-up. after a thorough examination, the doctor informs him that he has high blood pressure, elevated cholesterol levels and type two diabetes. fat dude ponders this for a while and then announces that he will cure all of his ailments by eating more Big Macs and drinking even more Coke. the doctor patiently puts before him evidence from all over the world that tells fatso that his strategy will result in his death. at this, lardass pounds the doctors desk, calls him a liar and ells him that his arguments lack logic. he further tells the doctor that it's his god given right to eat what he wants and as much of it as his ridiculously strained heart desires.

please tell me who's being the idiot in this scenario. please tell me who's arguments lack logic. please tell me who the liar is. please tell me who should be ashamed of his abuse of the grey cells that god bestowed upon him.

these are facts!
the UK has probably the toughest gun laws in the world.
only very specialist units of our police force are armed. ALL of the rest, every copper on the street, is unarmed.
we have had three mass shootings in the last forty years.
in the USA even your rent-a-cops are armed.
you had 352 mass shootings in one year.

these are the conclusions that can be drawn from these facts.
1. i've made it all up. problem - 10 mins in front of your computer will show you that i haven't.
2. Brits are peaceful, docile and law abiding. problem - our crime figures do not support that fiction.
3. the more guns you have on your streets, the easier it is to get guns, the more likely it is that there will be mass shootings. problem - idiots like you refuse to see that simple correlation.
4. Americans are predominantly a bunch of murderous psychos.

Given the rise of Trump in the last year, i'm going for option 4.

If you’re going to use examples and similes, then try to use some that actually make sense. A hammer is designed and used to insert nails into various materials. That’s its purpose. A gun is designed and used to insert bullets into humans. That’s its purpose.

Anyway, I really am done this time. I’ve had this discussion more times than I can remember and, regardless of the facts put before many obese people, they still insist that stuffing their faces with ever more Big Macs is the answer.

in the UK we do not need to teach our kids this. why? two reasons.

1. we do not raise people to be murdering psychopaths who are obsessed with guns and killing.
