When I'm in trouble I rarely actually call the police.

If someone steals something from me for instance I have no faith they'll actually find it.

The only time I call them is when I have a non emergency and like for instance a mentally ill woman is wandering the neighborhood and I think someone should check in on her.

I think justice was served.

For me, I'm glad he was convicted. I like the police, my one professor is also a detective with a department and I'm aiming to go into law enforcement. The conviction is good for accountability.

This was a win for justice. Now they need to put Chauvin in gen pop with no special protection and then justice will truly be served in full.

The jury saw the evidence. None of us did. I don't know what killed the guy but the cop sure didn't do himself or anyone else any favors. He used very poor judgement and according to the jury deserved the verdict. I'll accept that. Too many good cops out there. He wasn't one of them.

I agree with you that there are a lot of good police officers out there.

But when it's you on the street getting pulled over, and you can't count on being safe from officers who have sworn to protect and serve, when folks are afraid to complain about abuse, all citizens and all good cops suffer the consequences.

If there's one person who isn't safe, nobody is safe.

The charges were point on and so was the conviction.

More than two things had to happen - a prosecution team whose hearts were in it, public support for taking legal action, other officers who fulfilled their oaths by testifying on the side of the law.

There need to be a lot of days when right gets done, but today was a good start.

The mission of the police needs to change. The makeup of the police force needs to be re-evaluated. Too many don't even live in the community they are protecting!

Watched the defense, the video that was shoved down our throat wasn't the story it was to divide as usual. NOT guilty but because of fear and intimidation this was expected.

It's a difficult job. Day in day out they risk their lives and deal with criminals and difficult people/situation. It's natural to snap

I am against bad cops and brutality, and firmly believe that after 11 complaints (7 of them from white people) Chauvin should have been fired before ever interacting with Floyd.

However, after hearing the testimony from the experts and seeing the videos, no. I do not agree with the verdict, but sadly, I know why it had to be handed down. Anything less, and the top story right now would be nationwide rioting and a rising death toll.

It's disgusting we live in a time of emotion over facts, mob rule over justice. But it is what it is.

Like carpediem, I would feel foolish trying to render a verdict after the fact based on evidence I did not see.

He was found guilty by a jury of his peers on every count, but will only serve a sentence for 2nd degree murder, which was the most severe of the counts.

I disagree, but it is what it is.

Justice was served. He was in cuffs and no longer a threat. But I don't quite get the three charges though. They all fed in to the charge with the greatest penalty. I'm actually in favor of defunding because it's about moving resources to help take loads that cops aren't trained for off their plate. I think better policing will be the result. What I'm having a really hard time with is the "All cops bad" position. It's emotional, not close to accurate, and typically spewed by sheltered white kids from behind a computer screen. No ones wins with that.

I agree with the verdict. Cops have a hard, demanding job, but what Chauvin did was just pure cruelty.

I don't agree though with the threats of rioting. But I think if the jurors did what they're suppose to do they're really suppose to avoid the news. They're to decide based on what's presented to them in court. They're suppose to be sequestered. So they should have came to it not because they cave in to pressure from threats, or any outside pressure.

Also I read someone say there was a pig's severed head delivered to one of the jurors, um no it was to the former house of a defense witness. Someone else lives in that house already, not the defense witness even.
